Co-sponsor Job Fair

The SEU co-sponsored the WorkForce 2007 Job Fair on May 22, 2007 at the Blaisdell Center.  Over 175 employers participated in the job fair.  The fair attracted over 5100 job seekers.  The SEU helped promote the event through on-air announcements.  Participating managers included the general manager.

ESTABLISH AN INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DESIGNED TO ASSIST MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TO ACQUIRE BROADCAST SKILLS.

The SEU provided an internship to one University of Hawaii  student during the Summer of this reporting period.  The student received on-the-job training in the promotions department. 

The SEU provided an internship to one Hawaii Pacific University student during the Summer of this reporting period.  The student received on-the-job training in the programming department.

The SEU provided an internship to one University of Georgia student during the Summer of this reporting period.  The student received on-the-job training in the promotions department. 

The SEU provided an internship to one Hawaii Pacific University student during the Summer of this reporting period.  The student received on-the-job training in the sales department.

PARTICIPATE IN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

The Hawaii Association of Broadcasters offers an annual scholarship program to high school and college students with the goal of pursuing a career in broadcasting.  The HAB member radio stations assist in this program by running PSAs that encourage students to apply for the scholarship program.  And the board of directors, which include the SEU’s general manager and general sales manager, volunteer their time to interview and rate the applicants.  Chuck Cotton, the general manager, is also the scholarship committee chairman.
